Olive Affaire was the inspiration of ‘Jean Oliver’, the director of the Greek Bistro. From August 2013 to February 2018; the idea came from living years in Greece and being married she had a son Nicholas. They lived in Piraeus, the port of Athens where they had come to love Greek food, as they ate nothing else. They had travelled all over Greece, islands and villages alike the length and breadth of Greece.
The old ladies of the villages taught Jean how to cook the authentic Greek food and as a result her son was brought up on the best Greek cuisine, and grew to have a passion for the food and culture. When they came back to England Jean taught in local comprehensive schools for fourteen years.
When she eventually left teaching she decided to fulfil her dream of opening a Greek restaurant and never looked back. The restaurant has now been taken over by Nick Pettas who has the same passion for Greek food.
Now that Jean has retired her son Nick runs the Bistro.
